We often get stuck on the technicalities of our path through life and lose track of what we are actually trying to create. We decide what we want, set an intention and begin moving towards it, but before long we start questioning how it will happen, when it will happen and what needs to occur before we can reach it.
When something we are manifesting seems to be taking too long, we often assume it is not working. But the delay may come from our need to control how it arrives, when it arrives and what the path should look like.
Imagine slowly pouring water onto the ground. At first, it soaks into the dirt, but as more water is added, it begins to move across the surface. It follows the shape of the land, finding the path of least resistance until it eventually reaches a place where it can gather and form a pool.
The pool represents what we are manifesting. It might be a goal, a relationship, a new opportunity, greater security or a change we want to create in our life. The water represents the intention, energy and emotion we place behind that desire.
We can choose what we want the pool to be, but we cannot completely control the path the water takes to reach it.
The water may move in a direction we did not expect. It may encounter rocks, dips, cracks or uneven ground, but these obstacles do not necessarily stop the flow. They alter its path, change its direction and sometimes slow it down, but the water continues moving towards the place where it can gather.
Our lives often work in much the same way. We may believe our goal will come through a certain opportunity, person or situation, only to find that things do not unfold as expected. Something we thought was leading us towards our desire may suddenly end, or we may be forced to take a direction we had never considered.
When this happens, we often assume something has gone wrong. We may begin doubting our intention or questioning whether manifestation is working at all, when the water may simply be finding a different path.
When we manifest, we focus on the end result and allow ourselves to imagine what it would feel like if it had already happened. The feeling we place behind the intention is important because it gives the desire its energy. The goal, situation or object we want to create is the pool, while our intention, emotion and belief become the water moving towards it.
Our role is to become clear about what we want to create, but this does not mean we need to control every step that leads us there. We still take action, make decisions and respond to the opportunities that appear, but we do not need to know the whole path before we begin.
We like to know what is happening, when it is happening, how it is happening and, perhaps most of all, why it is happening. Planning can create a sense of safety because it makes us feel that we are in control, but the need to control the how and when can also create the obstacles that slow everything down.
We begin placing conditions around what we want. It must happen through a particular person, arrive by a certain date or look exactly as we imagined it would. In doing this, we can unintentionally place rocks in front of the water and then become frustrated when it has to change direction.
Sometimes the delays we experience are created by our own need to manage every detail. We question the process, change our intention and pull our energy away from what we originally wanted because we cannot yet see any evidence that it is happening.
The water may still be moving, even when we cannot see it.
Trusting manifestation does not mean sitting back and expecting everything to arrive without action. It means holding the intention while remaining open to the path that unfolds. You may still need to make changes, take opportunities or let go of something that no longer supports where you are going.
You are the creator of your world and the manifester of your experience. Hold your desire clearly in your mind, imagine that it has already happened and connect with what it would feel like to already have it. Then allow the stream to work its way towards the place where you want it to pool.
The path may turn, slow down or move through places you did not expect, but you do not need to control every movement. Keep your focus on what you are creating, continue taking the steps that appear in front of you and allow the water to find its own way.
